Today, Thursday, through Saturday I have the privilege of volunteering at the local yarn store (C R Yarn) in Rapid City. I am so excited. I hope that there will be lots of tourists coming in these next few days, because I want to make it worthwhile for the owner to keep the shop open while she is out of town for the weekend. I have my spinning wheel, freshly carded mohair, a spinning project in progress, my knitting, my Kindle and my computer. What a fun few days this will be and such a difference from working at my home in my home office doing sales for jewelry. Not better mind you, just different!

We all went away to spin and play and EAT!! The girls from the Local Yarn Shop in Rapid City had a Fiber weekend Retreat the last weekend of April. About a dozen of us went and we had a great time. We spun core yarn, we dyed in pots and by “painting fiber”, we talked and laughed and ate, a lot. Rita makes the best eggs for breakfast and Doria made the most delicious scones. We also had spicy pecans, brownies, muffins, fruit, and chocolate peanut butter rice krispy bars, coffee, tea and wine. We were served a wonderful steak and leg of lamb supper with salad, baked potato, beans with bacon and strawberry shortcake, by the owners of the Sunrise Guest Ranch where we stayed for our retreat. It rained a little and snowed a little and the wood burning stove was the favorite place to be close to. Here are some fun photos of the Retreat:
Sunrise Guest Ranch has a beautiful lodge with private rooms, most having 2 double beds, some with one double, one single, dormitory style bathrooms, a huge kitchen, huge room for family reunions, scrapbooking, spinning/weaving retreat, genealogy retreat whatever you want. The prices are good and the owners, Mark and Suzanne are precious to work with. Give them a call you won’t be sorry: 605-685-3376
